Weirded out.

Yesterday, I took a nap. A nice long one. The kind where you are so dead asleep that it's like you're waking up from the dead.
You're disoriented (and demented, and a little nuts. Name that tune).
But mostly, you have some freaky time dreams.

I have a long history of having weird dreams. Dreams about underwear fairs and doing drugs and never ending diet cokes at Sonic.

The one I had yesterday was pretty strange, though.

My family was in New York with me. My parents, my sisters, and my cousin, Elizabeth (I'm not sure why the rest of my extended family wasn't there. I'm sure you were all invited, I just don't remember you being at the activity).

We were in the subway, and had been tasked with chasing ghosts. Yeah, ghosts. We had to run from subway station to subway station, making sure we were in the right spot when the ghosts passed. Some were going faster than others, so it also involved some math (Don't worry, if this isn't weird enough for you, it will get weirder).

The last ghost we had to meet, we had to talk to (Just as a side note, his torso was accordion-esque). At first, I didn't recognize him, then I realized, he was my brother-in-law, Tim. We each spoke with Tim individually. When he talked to me, he told me that my husband, Denny, could sometimes be an idiot.
"Um, Tim," I said, "I'm not married."
"Oh," said Tim, "your boyfriend."
"Tim, I'm not dating anyone."
"Hmmm...well Ghostbusters is still cool."
I realize the insanity of this conversation. It's pretty bizarre.

However, in my mind, the weirdest part is that, in my dream, my brother-in-law had died,
AND NOBODY HAD BOTHERED TO TELL ME!

We finished our quest, got back in the van, and I stopped my family's conversation and confronted them about the member of my family that had passed. Mostly Daisy, since Tim is her husband.

They told me that he had washed an apple with warm water and put it in the microwave and it had given him cancer, which he had died from a few months earlier (Because that's real. Watch out for it), and they were sure they had told me.
They hadn't

Then I woke up.
Upon my entrance back into real life, I was pretty frustrated with my family.
Why didn't they tell me that...my brother-in-law was...dead?
Wait a second.
Then I realized: my brother-in-law was not dead. He was on his way back to Missouri from Indiana. And he had definitely not died from cleaning his apple in a freaky town way.

But, he was right about one thing.
Ghostbusters is still cool.

I'm gettin' old

When I was a freshmen, I could stay out late. I could hang out with Katie, Dana, and Bianca until 4 in the morning and get up at 8 to go to class, then do it again the next day.

Now, however, I can't do that. I never stay up past 12:20 without passing out. I need a nap the next day. The days when it is absolutely necessary for me to stay up late, I'm a zombie the next day.

I can't decide if I'm getting old or if its 4 years of sleep deprivation catching up to me. Maybe after I graduate I'll just sleep for a year.

the library effect

Maybe you haven't heard of it, but it's for real.
There is something about libraries that (how do I say this and remain a lady?) causes me to need a trip to the little girls room.
It's strange, don't worry, I know. I don't know if it's a common issue in society, but it is something that my family struggles with.
Usually, the BYU library does not act as a catalyst for the library effect. Probably because it's more than just a library, but a study room as well. However, today, it did.
So, I ran off to find the restroom, but was thwarted in my efforts. During the summer, the women's restroom on the main floor was closed for renovation. However, school has started now, thousands more people are on campus, which means thousands more girls needing to use that particular room. I figured it would be in full use by now. Ho ho, not so. It is closed still. Ridiculous.
I finally found an open loo, and was once again struck with a recurring question. Let me preface: at BYU, there are many married women, meaning that there are also many women with young'uns. Ergo, in most of the restrooms there are nice little couches, chairs, and yes, even beds to feed said children.
Here's my question, though. Why in the world would you want to take a nap in the bathroom, of all places. There are plenty of couches, chairs, patches of grass, and flooring around the rest of campus. I just think that a lavatory would be the most awkward room to take a nap.

swellage.

it feels like my brain is 10 times larger than it's supposed to be.
and it's throbbing.
why you ask?
because, that is what happens when you get 2 hours of sleep in a night.
and don't take a nap.
ouuuuch.

some thoughts on my life

1. this morning, on my way to school, for a brief second, campus smelled like moth balls. this reminded me of when i was little and my mom would pull out our "new" (read "hand me down") clothes at the end of each summer. they always smelled like moth balls.
2. i didn't sleep well last night. this week is busy, and my brain wouldn't turn off. i ended up having to listen to harry potter to fall asleep.
3. i really love fried eggs. when the yoke is runny and you dip your toast in it. i've eaten at least 6 in the past 4 days.
4. since i woke up at 6 and ate my breakfast at 6:45, i am currently ready for lunch. at 10:33. that's no good, since i didn't bring food for lunch and may not eat till 4.
5. for my shakespeare class i am performing the final scene of hamlet. star wars style (yes, there will be light sabers)
6. i really want to take a nap.
