i must have been sick that day

so i was talking to my mom today.
i do that a lot.
we talk about everything.
toe nail polish.
the weather.
the growing unemployment rate.
today, we talked about flirting
(among other things)
and how bad i am at it.

here's what i'm pretty sure happened:
one day,
in middle school,
i had a really bad fever.
i had to stay home and watch beauty and the beast
(it's my sick movie, ok?)
when i got back to school, i asked if i missed anything important,
they said no.

they lied.

that day.
that day that i spent watching beauty and the beast?
that has got to be the day they taught the kids how to flirt.
so, i was sick that day.
because of that one sick day i took,
i missed a vital part of my education,
and there was no homework, so i couldn't make it up.

here's the problem.
i just don't know how to do it.
i really don't.
every time i try, it just comes off as me acting like an idiot.
i guess.
i try to show interest,
but it's not conveyed.
maybe i should wear a shirt.
(well, i usually am, but this one would be special)
a shirt that in big green letters says
"i'm probably interested"
not only would it show my interest,
but it would also be a good conversation starter.

or maybe i just need to go back to middle school and not miss any days.
